Tehran, IRNA - Russia's foreign ministry has said that some 500 US citizens, including former President Barack Obama, would be slapped with sanctions in what is seen as Moscow’s response to the latest round of sanctions announced by Washington.

“Washington should have learned a long time ago that not a single hostile attack on Russia will go unpunished," the ministry said on Friday.
The measure came hours after the United States announced sanctions against more than 300 targets related to Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
The new round of US sanctions had been regarded as an intensification of one harshest sanctions efforts ever implemented by the US.
