Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has strongly condemned part of a statement issued by the Group of Seven (G7) advanced economies in Japan on Saturday which accused the Islamic Republic of involvement in illicit financial activities.

According to a Thursday report by the IRNA, Kanaani slammed the G7 for making unfounded accusations against Iran.

Instead of making the baseless accusations, they have to stop following the United States’ illegal sanctions against Iran which are a violation of the principles of the international law and human rights, he said.

The spokesman went on to say that members of the G7 have to take responsibility for moves that have violated the rights of the Iranian people.
