Tehran, IRNA - Britain's trade exchanges with Iran has more than tripled since the country left the European Union, a move known as Brexit, as the value of annual trade between the two countries reached 696 million pounds in 2022, according to figures by the British Department for Business and Trade (DBT).

The DBT reported the significant growth of 72% in the value of Iran-UK trade exchanges last year compared to 2021.

The trade figure of £696 is the highest value of trade exchanges between the two countries recorded over past10 years, the figures showed. 

The United Kingdom has exported £531 million worth of goods and services to Iran in 2022, an increase of 100% compared to the preceding year.

UK imports from Iran also increased by 18% last year compared to 2021 to reach £165 million.
