Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei will visit Qatar soon to sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Doha, according to Iran’s ambassador to the Arab country.

Speaking to IRNA on Wednesday, Hamidreza Dehghani-Poudeh said that Mohseni-Ejei will visit Doha in the near future to meet Qatari officials and ink bilateral judicial contracts and MoUs.

Elsewhere in his comments, Dehghani-Poudeh said the Emir of Qatar had agreed to the transfer of 28 imprisoned Iranian nationals from Qatar to Iran following President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Doha earlier this year.

“Previously, 19 Iranians imprisoned in Qatar were transferred to the country’s prisons, and in the near future, a number of other nationals imprisoned in Qatar will be transferred ... to serve their sentences,” he explained.

The Iranian ambassador further said that 87 Iranian nationals are currently behind bars in Qatar over narcotics-related offenses.
