Tehran, IRNA – Minister of Health and Medical Education of Iran Bahram Eynollahi has voiced Iran’s readiness to launch exports of medicine and medical equipment to Afghanistan.

Eynollahi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting acting Minister of Public Health of Afghanistan Qalandar Ibad in Tehran on Monday.

He stressed that having access to Iranian medical products is more economical for Afghans compared to rival products from Europe.

The official called for setting up a joint working group with Afghanistan to make joint projects operational.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved significant success in the field of medicine and medical equipment, he said, noting that some 99% of the domestic demand for medicines is met wit drugs produced inside the country.

For his part, Ibad expressed hoped for developing health, treatment, educational, research, and pharmaceutical cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.

The Afghan official also touched upon the expansion of the health sector in Afghanistan, its success in fighting some diseases and improved vaccination programs.
