Speaking to IRNA on Saturday, Mehdi Dousti said the project will be implemented with a whopping investment of $30 billion that has been allocated by the government of President Ebrahim Raisi.
He said the Oil Ministry will soon start the construction of several large petro-refineries in Hormozgan including Shahid Soleimani and Negin Makran petro-refineries with a capacity of 300,000 bpd each and a 120,000 bpd refinery.
Iran's Hormozgan province is home to the Bandar Abbas Oil Refinery which is one of the largest refineries in the Middle East with a refining capacity of more than 300,000 bpd. It currently supplies 18% of the oil products needed across Iran.
Another major refinery, called Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGSR), which is located just next to Bandar Abbas Refinery, is the first and largest Iranian refinery running on gas condensate as its feedstock and has a capacity of 360,000 bpd. The PGSR receives its feedstock supply from refineries of South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf through a 485-kilometer pipeline.
