Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has held a friendly meeting with a number of Syrian Sunni scholars.

On the second day of his trip to Syria on Wednesday, Raisi met and held talks with a group of Sunni scholars in the capital Damascus.

Some cordial words were exchanged during the meeting.

"We use Iranian Keffiyeh, while you use Palestinian and Syrian Keffiyeh!" one Sunni scholar told Raisi while pointing to the Palestinian keffiyeh over his shoulders. 

The Iranian president in in Syria at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation. The visit is a first by an Iranian president to Syria since the start of the foreign-backed militancy in the Arab country in 2011.
