Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has reacted to a US statement raising concerns about Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s ongoing visit to Syria.

Kanaani said in a tweet in Farsi on Thursday that it is obvious that the malicious US regime, whose "horn broke off" by Iran and the resistance axis in Syria and in the whole region, would become annoyed by Iranian president's visit to Syria.

He said the US must end its aggressive presence in Syria.

The spokesman partially mentioned a famous quote from Late Ayatollah Beheshti, a senior official in early years of Iran's Islamic Revolution of 1979 who told the US: Be angry and die of this anger!

US’s State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel claimed at a briefing on Wednesday that the deepening ties between Iran and Syria should be a source of worry for the international community.

Raisi is in Damascus in a first visit to Syria by an Iranian president since 2011.
