Jalali told IRNA in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that officials of Iran and Russia believe that the provisions, which were mentioned in the previous accord, are not applicable to the current international situation, so high-ranking authorities have reached a consensus to discuss and review the deal.
According to the envoy, the new accord between Russia and Iran is a comprehensive one which covers cooperation on political, regional, international, economic, security, intelligence, cyber-space, defense, and other issues.
Asked about any similarity between Iran-Russia strategic agreement a long-term cooperation deal between Iran and China, Jalali said that the accord with China is a type partnership agreement while the agreement with Russia is a binding document which should be approved by parliaments of both countries.
However, he said, growing relations between Tehran and Moscow face opposition from certain states and powers.
The ambassador described the Iranian calendar year 1401(March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023) as the golden year of the expansion of ties between Iran and Russia, adding that presidents of the two countries met four times and had several phone conversations over the year.
He said that the volume of economic and trade ties between the two countries rose from $1.65 dollars in the Iranian calendar year 1398 (March 21, 2019, to March 20, 2020) to around $5 billion in year 1401.
