Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps issued a joint statement on Friday, announcing the arrest of the main elements behind the failed sabotage action against a Defense Ministry industrial complex in the central city of Isfahan on January 28, 2023.

The statement said that the investigations into the sabotage act are still underway and additional information will be released at the right time.

“So far, the involvement of the Zionist regime elements in that act has been proved”, the statement said, adding that the failed attempt followed the regime’s desperation caused by blows dealt by Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Although the regime has failed in its attempt, it will face punishment for violating the Islamic Republic’s territory, the statement stressed.

On January 9 and a day after the incident, the Iranian Defense Ministry also issued a statement confirming a quadcopter drone attack on an industrial complex in Isfahan.

The ministry said the attack had failed, and that one of three drones attacking the defense equipment manufacturing complex was downed by a defense system stationed inside the facility and two others exploded after being caught in traps set by the defense system.

It also said the attack had left no casualties and only caused slight damage on the roof of the defense equipment facility.
