President Ebrahim Raisi, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie held their weekly meeting on Saturday afternoon, discussing key issues of the country.
Their meeting was held two days after the European Parliament passed a resolution that called for designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
The top Iranian officials called the resolution part of media, psychological and economic warfare in which enemies have been defeated due to vigilance of the Iranian people, as well as their support for the revolution and achievements of the Islamic system.
Raisi, Qalibaf and Mohseni Ejeie stressed that the IRGC is part of Iran’s military might and armed forces, which has served the country over the past four decades and has a good record of defending Iran.
Members of the European Parliament, in their resolution passed on January 19, also called on the European Union to expand its sanctions list to all foundations linked to the IRGC over alleged human rights violations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has also strongly condemned the measure, saying it is against the UN Charter.
The Ministry’s spokesman Nasser Kanaani reacted as well, saying that the IRGC is the biggest anti-terror organization in the world.
And, IRGC Top Commander Major General Hossein Salami has urged Europe not to repeat past mistakes.
