Tehran, IRNA – A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Khoy county in the northwestern Iranian province of West Azarbaijan on Wednesday.

The quake occurred at 13:38 o’clock local time (14:14 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran. 

Another earthquake as big as 3.6-magnitude on the Richter scale jolted the same area at 13:19 local time.

There has not been reported casualties or destruction following these two tremors.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
