Iran expects to take delivery of a number of Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia early next Iranian year, which starts in March, a lawmaker said. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tasnim News Agency, member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Shahriar Heidari said Iran has ordered Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia.
-- Iranian oil exports end 2022 at a high, despite no nuclear deal
Iranian oil exports hit new highs in the last two months of 2022, and are making a strong start in 2023, despite U.S. sanctions, according to companies that track the flow of shipments to China and Venezuela. Energy consultant SVB International said that Iran’s crude exports in December averaged 1.137 million barrels per day, up 42,000 bpd from November, and the highest 2022 figure SVB has reported, based on estimates given earlier, Reuters reported.
Consultant Petro-Logistics, which tracks oil supply, said it was seeing an upward trend in Iranian crude exports which, in its view, in December reached their highest level since March 2019.

Tehran and Damascus have agreed to sign a document for long-term strategic cooperation in the near future, said the Iranian foreign minister. Making the remark in an address to a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad following their meeting in Damascus on Saturday,

-- German Arrested Over Espionage in Iran
Iran has detained a German citizen for taking photos of “sensitive oil centers” in the southern province of Khuzestan, Iranian media outlets reported on Tuesday. The German national was detained while taking photos of Aghajari oilfield in Khuzestan province, according to the reports.
A source in Berlin has stated that Germany has taken note of the Iranian report and the embassy in Tehran is working to clarify the situation. It comes days after Iran executed former official Alireza Akbari for spying for the British intelligence agency.
-- Iranian Cineastes Review ‘The Last King of Scotland’
Kevin Macdonald’s acclaimed historical drama “The Last King of Scotland” will be reviewed at the cinematheque of the Iranian Artists Forum on Monday evening. Starring Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy, the 2006 movie depicts the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin’s regime as seen by a fictional Scottish physician during the 1970s.
The topic “The Lonely Totalitarian” will be discussed during the review session, which will be attended by sociologist Iman Vaqefi.

The national Iranian men’s ice hockey team has become the vice-champion of the Islamic Countries Ice Hockey Championship in Tatarstan in the Russian Federation.
The national men’s ice hockey team of Iran, who lost their last match to the host team, Tatarstan, finished in second place at the Kazan tournament thanks to a goal difference compared to the teams of Oman and Tatarstan team.

-- Iranian, Belgian FMs discuss issues of mutual interest on phone
In a late Monday phone conversation, Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian addressed topics of shared interest. To discuss matters of common interest, Lahbib called her Iranian counterpart Amir Abdollahian.
The two diplomats talked on matters of mutual interest, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry's telegram channel.
-- Tehran, Islamabad ink MOU to facilitate economic co-op
Iran and Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Monday to facilitate bilateral trade between the two countries. The MOU was signed by Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak and Head of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, the TPO portal reported.
Based on the MOU, which was signed on the sidelines of Iran’s Exclusive Exhibition in Karachi, the parties pledged to exchange business information, support each other’s private sectors, and provide the conditions and context for the presence of their trade delegations in the other country.
