London, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Austria Abbas Bagherpour Ardakani has criticized European countries for using human rights as a political tool against other nations.

The ambassador made the criticism in a tweet on Saturday as he slammed European countries for keeping silent on actions taken by Israel and Saudi Arabia.

“To the Europeans:

Have You ever summoned any Israeli regime's rep. for their persistent brutal crimes against children & women? or others whose government executed 81 people in a single day? Surely not, since Human Rights is just a tool in your political toolbox!”

The Iranian diplomat ended his tweet with #DoubleStandards.

European countries in recent weeks have imposed several rounds of sanctions on Iran over what they call human rights violations related to the country’s response to the recent unrest, as well as the Islamic Republic’s alleged sending of drones to Russia for use in the war in Ukraine.

Iran has strongly dismissed the allegations of human rights violations, saying it is dealing with foreign-backed riots that are aimed at creating division in the country.

Iran has also rejected the allegations of drone deliveries to Russia during the Ukraine war.

Tehran say it has transferred a few number of unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia before the war began, as part of a defense cooperation with Moscow.
