Tehran, IRNA – A consular meeting of Iran and Syria was held in the Syrian capital on Sunday.

The meeting was co-chaired by Alireza Bigdeli, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs, and his Syrian counterpart.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues including, further cooperation to remove the problems of the nationals of both countries, facilitating in implementation of bilateral agreements, resolving student issues and expansion of academic cooperation.

Both sides also agreed to hold more specialized meetings in the future.

Alireza Bigdeli also had a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on the sidelines of the consular meeting where they called for continued connections of both countries to help resolve consular problems.

They agreed on holding the next round of consular talks in the near future.
