Khorramabad, IRNA – As many as 3,111 unauthorized weapons have been confiscated in the Iranian western province of Lorestan since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), according to the Police commander of the province.

Brigadier General Yahya Elahi said on Sunday that more than 1,200 people have also been arrested in this regard.

He added that some 27 percent of these weapons have been different types of war weapons.

The commander said that 900 of the confiscated weapons were seized during the recent unrests in Iran, 700 of which were taken from the seditionists who intended to bring weapons to Lorestan from west and northwestern parts of the country.

Noting that the seizure of such a big amount of weapons has been unprecedented in the province, he said that it uncovers plans by the enemies to increase the death toll of the unrests across Iran.
