New York, IRNA - The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations announced here that significant steps have been taken so far in the collaborative dialogue between Iranian and Ukrainian defense experts, and it will continue to clear up any misunderstanding on this matter [(alleged claims)].

Following the alleged claims made by The Washington Post- an American daily newspaper- about using Iranian drones in the Ukraine conflict, Iran has requested a joint expert meeting with Ukraine authorities to consider such allegations, the Mission wrote to the newspaper.

For years, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia have maintained bilateral defense, scientific and research cooperation, that predates the start of the Ukrainian conflict.

Considering that the five-year period of Iran's arms restrictions under UN Security Council Resolution 2231 terminated in October 2020, the Islamic Republic of Iran has prioritized increasing defense cooperation with other countries.

Since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken a clear, consistent, and unwavering position, emphasizing that all UN Member States must fully respect the purposes and principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter as well as international law, including sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity.
