-- Iran-US nine-month trade up 41%

Iran  and the US traded $42.2 million worth of goods in the first nine months of 2022 which was 41 percent more than the corresponding figure for 2021 which was $29.9 million.
According to figures released by the United States Census Bureau, the US exported $31.3 million worth of commodities to Iran during the nine months to September, seven percent more than the related figure for last year.

-- Iran blocks 2,300 foreign currency bank accounts as dollar price surges

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry has identified and blocked more than 2,300 foreign currency bank accounts that were used to trigger instability in the country’s forex market.
A statement from the ministry’s information and public relations department said that judicial authorities would prosecute the criminal acts of the holders of the bank accounts who it said were involved in profiteering practices through creating a demand bubble in the Iranian currency market.

-- Pateh douzi, famous handicraft of Kerman Province

Pateh douzi, also known as selseleh douzi, is an important handicraft produced by the craftspeople of Kerman Province.
Due to the vulnerability of fabrics, no pateh work has survived from ancient times and very little is known about its history. However, according to historical documents dating back to the Safavid Dynasty (1501-1736 CE), we can be almost certain that pateh was quite popular in Kerman Province during the period.

-- Iran Beat UAE to Advance to 2022 Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Final

Iran have beaten the UAE 5-2 in the semifinal round of the 2022 Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup. Mehdi Shirmuhammadi, Amir Hussein Akbari (two goals), Moslem Mesigar and Ali Mirshekari were on target for Iran. Team Melli have previously defeated Paraguay, the U.S. and Japan in the tournament.
The competition is being held in Dubai, the UAE, from November 1 to 5. Russia is the most successful team, having won four tournaments. It is also the current champion. Iran have won the title three times.

-- Iran, Thailand Customs Set to Enhance Cooperation

Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) and Thailand’s Customs Department have signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding.
Both sides expressed hope that by signing this memorandum and using all capacities, the volume of trade between Iran and Thailand will increase.
Referring to the long-term history of commercial cooperation between the two countries, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moghaddasi said, “By fully implementing the provisions of this memorandum of understanding, which can be implemented after one month, we can take a practical step in expanding trade and customs relations and fighting smuggling.”

-- Iran’s Talents Win Big at Indonesia’s Science & Invention Competitions

Scientific secretary of Avicenna National Festival said on Saturday that Iranian students won 13 medals in the International Science & Invention Competitions 2022 held in Indonesia. Referring to the scientific events in Indonesia, Mehdi Rashidi said that a total of 32 countries and 570 teams participated in various segments of the competition.
He noted that Iranian students grabbed 4 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals in this competition. The competition was held in Indonesia, from November 1 to 5, 2022.

-- Iran general dismisses US, Ukraine allegations as ‘sheer lies’

Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman of the Iranian Armed Forces, has repudiated the allegations leveled by the U.S. and Ukraine against Iran providing weaponry to Russia for use in the Ukraine war as untrue. 

Shekarchi said the ruling regime in Ukraine is totally subservient to the Zionists and the Americans, according to Press TV. "These remarks and accusations attributed to Iran by the presidents of the United States and Ukraine are sheer lies and slander," he added.

-- Armenian translator Eduard Hakhverdyan honored with Sadi Literary Award

Iran has honored the Iranian-Armenian poet Eduard Hakhverdyan, who has translated many contemporary Persian literary works into Armenian, with the Sadi Literary Award.

Named after Persian poet Sadi, the award has been established by the Sadi Studies Center in Shiraz to honor international scholars with great contributions to Persian literature.

-- The rise of medical tourism in Mashhad

The number of foreign nationals visiting Mashhad to attain medical services has jumped by 50 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21) in comparison to the same period a year earlier.

23,000 travelers from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Tajikistan received medical services from Mashhad hospitals in the first half of the year, which shows a 50 percent increase year on year, ISNA quoted a local official as saying on Sunday. “66% of clients were women and 33% were men, who received services from licensed medical centers in the fields of the eye, heart, gynecology, obstetrics, orthopedics, and plastic surgery,” the official said.
