New York, IRNA – President of the United Nations Security Council Harold Adlai Agyeman distanced himself from the media dictatorship of the West and the US media campaign saying that the UNSC will not hold a session on Iran.

He made the remarks in response to the IRNA correspondent's question regarding the US attempt to hold a session on Iran’s internal affairs.

The issue of the Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA) is discussed in the Security Council, but the situation in Iran is not reviewed by the Security Council.

He noted that the sessions are not technically categorized as UNSC meetings.

We follow the issue of Iran only at the national level and consider it within the framework of Iran's sovereignty, he stated.

Earlier, Amir Saied Iravani, the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, described holding the Arria-formula meeting entitled "Ongoing Protests in Iran" as a dangerous precedent.
