-- Jahan Banoo’ theatrical show highlights women’s role throughout history

An Iranian theatrical show titled ‘Jahan Banoo,’ directed by Hassan Bazra, is on stage at Tehran’s Velayat Park. The performance was supposed to go on stage on October 23, however, due to unpredictable weather conditions it began on October 27 and will be underway for 25 nights.
On even days, the show, which is the latest production of Owj Arts and Media Organization, is being performed for women.

-- Official: Iran, Russia sign $6.5b in gas deal

About $6.5 billion from a memorandum of understanding with Russian energy giant Gazprom has been converted to a firm contract, a senior Iranian official said. “God willing, the rest of the memorandum, worth $40 billion, will be converted into contracts in the next month, and the negotiations are ongoing,” deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy Mehdi Safari was quoted as saying on Monday.
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Gazprom signed the $40-billion MoU in July on the day Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Tehran for a summit with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts.

-- Iran finishes first phase of rail link to Chabahar

Iran’s Roads and Urban Development Ministry announced that construction work for the first phase of a key rail link to the ocean port of Chabahar has finished. Abbas Khatibi, a senior official of the ministry, said that government authorities will soon inaugurate the 154-kilometrer railway line between Zahedan and Khash in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Press TV reported.
The line is a key section of the 628-kilometer rail link that will connect the provincial capital of Zahedan to Chabahar on the Sea of Oman.

-- Iran Congratulates Lula on Brazil Election Win

Iran on Monday congratulated Brazil’s president-elect Inacio Lula da Silva on his election win, calling for further expansion of relations between the two countries.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran hopes that age-old relations between the two countries, which are characterized with goodwill and mutual respect, would expand more than before under management of the president-elect,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday.

-- 17th Iran Int’l Auto Parts Exhibition Kicks Off in Tehran

The 17th edition of Iran International Parts Exhibition was inaugurated in Tehran Permanent Intl. Fairgrounds on Monday with the participation of the deputy industry.
The prestigious exhibition held with the participation of more than 600 domestic and foreign companies (including 45 knowledge-based companies, more than 500 domestic and 55 foreign companies) from 11 countries including China, Germany, Italy, Türkiye, the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Indonesia.

-- President Raisi: Security Is Iran’s Red Line

President Ebrahim Raisi said security is a red line for the Islamic Republic, and it will not allow the enemies to undermine it.
“Security is a red line for the government and nation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and we will never allow the enemy’s scheme to undermine this national and valuable asset to be realized,” the president said.
Raisi’s remarks came after earlier the same day he lauded the Iranian people’s massive presence at funerals held for the victims of a recent terrorist attack at a holy shrine in southern Iran.

-- Iran’s “Maman” garners awards for stars at Les Rimbaud du Cinema

The Iranian drama “Maman” has won the awards for best actor and supporting actor for its stars Roya Afshar and Erfan Ebrahimi at the Les Rimbaud du Cinema festival in France.   

Afshar received the award for her portrayal of a woman, who lost all the beautiful things she once had – including her name, her job and her husband – years ago, after the outbreak of the war. 

-- IMIDRO conducting mining development projects worth over $2b

Subsidiaries of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) are currently conducting mining development projects worth over $2 billion across the country, IRIB reported.

According to IMIDRO, the organization is implementing and completing 25 major development projects across the country which will create job opportunities for 5,500 people when completed.

-- Iranian universities among QS global sustainability ranking

Based on the 2023 QS World University Rankings for Sustainability, three Iranian institutions are among the top sustainable ones in the world. The University of Tehran, Amirkabir University of Technology, and Shiraz University are listed in this ranking system, all of which are among the top 500 universities.

The brand-new classification, published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, evaluates how universities are taking action to tackle the world’s most pressing environmental and social issues. 

Out of 1,300 higher-education institutions previously evaluated by QS, 700 met specific eligibility requirements to appear in this ranking.
