Tehran, IRNA – Two French spies, who were arrested in Iran, are facing charges of assembly and collusion to act against national security in the Islamic country, a judiciary official said.

Spokesperson for the Iranian Judiciary Masoud Setayeshi said in a news briefing on Tuesday that the French nationals' case is an important issue, which requires more investigation.

However, the judiciary is following up on the dossier to reach a conclusion very soon, while observing credibility and authenticity, he noted.

The spokesman also said that the spies have revealed valuable information and that the judiciary's special inspectors are resorting to scientific and technical methods to complete the case.

So, the issue that Western spy agencies have hatched plots to target the security of the Iranian people is not just a theory because there are numerous facts and figures that the enemies plan to create violence in a bid to endanger the security of the Iranian citizens by resorting to controlling sentiments of people and foment media propaganda campaign, he added.

Following the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, some people poured into the streets to show their solidarity when certain elements tried to wreak havoc.
