The general assembly of OANA helds in Tehran, Iran for two days, and around 60 senior directors, managers, and editors from 35 OANA member-states will discuss various topics, including the development and strengthening of media cooperation.
A number of guests attending the meeting yesterday expressed their pleasure in visiting various sections of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and meeting with IRNA's managers and editors.
Foreign media activists pointed out that the OANA general assembly hosted by IRNA will be an influential summit, noting that the Tehran summit will further strengthen and develop bilateral and multilateral cooperation among the news agencies of member-states.
The organization covering two-thirds of the world population has now 43 members from 35 countries in Asia and Oceania and three Iranian news agencies including IRNA, Fars, and Mehr News Agency are members of the organization.
The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) voted in favor of IRNA's nomination for the presidency at the 17th General Assembly meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
