The one-month-long internal protests in Iran has removed the mask of West’s enthusiasm for reaching a deal with Tehran over the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, because the American and European officials tried to portray themselves as the supporters of human rights with the aim of interfering in Iran’s internal affairs.
The death of a young Iranian girl in Iran triggered a wave of criticism and protests, which turned into chaos and riot, and the Western powers have attempted to turn them into an excuse to find a way to pursue their own excessive demands.
Before the protests, the West and the Islamic Republic were discussing the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions and the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but following the incident, Biden, who claimed that he was surprised by the protests, said that his administration plans to impose new sanctions against the Islamic Republic and stand by the Iranian protestors.
On Thursday, the United States Department of the Treasury declared that Iranian ministers of interior and communications are among those who have been in sanction list. Jake Sullivan, national security advisor of the United States, noted that the US will find new targets to impose more sanctions on Iran.
Also, the European Union issued an interfering resolution against Iran, calling for independent investigation into the death of Mahsa Amini, who was an Iranian national.
Josep Borrell, high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy, said that the bloc will impose fresh sanctions on Iran to show support for the protests in the Islamic country.
France claimed that recent events in Iran are a sort of violation of human rights, calling for reaction by international community and support for Iranian protestors.
Moreover, some Iranian embassies and diplomats have been attacked in European countries. Embassies in Copenhagen, London, Berlin and some other European capitals were attacked in a blatant act of ignorance in defending diplomatic missions by the Europeans.
Canada imposed sanctions on 25 individuals and 9 entities as well as 10 thousand personnel of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian warned the European Union that issuing anti-Iran sanctions or resolutions will be answered firmly by Tehran. He also questioned the Western authorities’ sincerity, saying that the death of an Iranian girl has been of so much importance for the West, asking what they have done concerning the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Lebanon.
However, Iran’ special geopolitics and history have been a source of miscalculations by some foreigners, who they would be able to pursue their plot to create a coup in such a vast country in the same way that they carried out velvet revolutions in certain states, which are as small as a province in Iran.
