The ambassador made the remarks during a visit to the 8th Baku International Book Fair, while he inspected Iran’s pavilion along with Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Yaser Ahmadvand in the second day of the event.
Mousavi expressed satisfaction with the diversity of books in Persian and Turkish languages, which are available in the book fair by the help of Iranian publishers, authors and translators.
Calling for the enhancement of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Iranian book-lovers and those who are active in publishing books, he wished for a condition, which paves the ground for translation and distribution of books in Azerbaijan Republic.
The ambassador also held talks with Iranian writer Mohammad Mir-Kiani, discussing the possibility of distributing books written by Iranian authors in Azerbaijan Republic.
Ahmadvand, for his part, noted that despite changes in media and expansion of social media, paper and digital books are being read by many readers, ruling out the propaganda that says people do not read book.
The 8th Baku International Book Fair kicked off on October 5 in the Azerbaijan capital city and it will continue until October 9.
More than 140 Azerbaijani and foreign publishers from Iran, Turkey, Venezuela, Argentina, Albania, Georgia, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and so on showcase their products in the five-day event.
The Islamic Republic of Iran participates in the book fair at the official invitation of the Azerbaijan government.
The Iranian Book and Literature Home in cooperation with the cultural advisor of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran showcases more than 400 books in children and adolescence literature, Iranology, visual arts and other topics.
