New York, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Monday that his country is determined to expand cooperation with Mauritania in all fields.

Amirabdollahian was speaking with his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the two countries can expand their relations in different fields, expressing hope that this goal is achieved through continuation of talks and efforts by the two sides.

The Mauritanian foreign minister, on his part, said that the two sides can expand cooperation in areas such as higher education, agriculture and renewable energy.

The two ministers discussed international developments as well.

Mauritania’s Foreign Minister referred to the recent foreign meddling and provocations in Iran in the wake of riots there, saying that the West is seeking to replace its own values with Islamic ones and is targeting religious beliefs.
