In the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly, Amirabdollahian highlighted the United States' meddling stances in recent days.
He said that peaceful protest is every nation’s right but castigated the US interfering approach against Iran and the region, including their instigating measures to support unrest and the movements that misuse Iranians’ innocent feelings to implement riot and false flag killing projects in Iran.
This is in obvious contrast with the frequent diplomatic message sent by the White House on the necessity of a deal and establishment of stability and security in the region, Amirabdollahian said.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views on the Arbaeen procession, bilateral ties and cooperation agreements, regional issues like developments in Yemen and Ukraine, the latest results of Iran-Saudi Arabia talks in Baghdad, and the talks to remove sanctions against Iran.
The Iraqi foreign minister expressed Iraq’s readiness to host the next round of talks between Tehran and Riyadh, giving a positive assessment of the negotiations.
Iraq will continue its good offices in this regard, he said, inviting Iran and Saudi Arabia to normalize their ties and reopen their embassies.
