The final and bronze medal competitions in 70, 79, 86, and 125 kg weights began as of 8:30 pm Tehran time, in the Athletics Hall of the Serbian capital city, Belgrade.
In 125 kg weight, Amir-Hossein Zare, the world gold medal and Olympics bronze medal winner after gaining a rest lot in the first round, beat China’s world silver medal holder Zhi Vi Deng 3-0 and in his 3rd and quarter final match he also beat Ukraine’s world bronze medal holder Alexander Khutsianovsi 10-1 to reach the semi-final match.
In the semi-final Zare faced Turkey’s Taha Akgul who has 8 world and Olympics medals, who beat him 4-2 blocking his path towards the final match.
Zare faced the Canadian athlete who has the Pan American gold and silver medals, and beat him wisely 8-0 to win the bronze medal.
Zare had last year won Iran’s first gold medal in freestyle after 32 years by getting Taha Akgul.
Mohammad Nokhodi and Hassan Yazdani had won the silver medals of 79 and 86 kg weights before that.
