Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Monday that tranquility and national unity should be preserved in Iraq, and that internal issues must be resolved within legal framework and without undermining the authority of the government.

The top Iranian diplomat made the remark in a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein in Tehran.

The two foreign ministers discussed regional developments and bilateral ties too.

Amirabdollahian stressed the need for implementing the agreements previously reached to expand bilateral relations, especially in the economic sector.

Fuad Hussein, on his part, said that Tehran-Baghdad relations are important and expressed gratitude for Iran’s approach towards Iraq’s internal developments.

He said that the security of Iraq and Iran is intertwined, adding that his country will never allow its soil to be used for threats against Iran.
