Speaking at the 13th meeting of Iran-China Friendship Association (ICFA) on Tuesday, the ambassador said that the background of relationship between the two countries as two historical civilizations dates back to more than 2,000 years ago, and that the then Silk Road played the role of a bridge to enhance amicable ties between the two nations.
According to the diplomat, the two nations have had mutual influence on each other throughout the history; so, the bilateral ties between the two countries do not restrict to only economic and trade exchanges, and they expand relationship in all fields.
He also referred to the fiftieth anniversary of the official formation of ties between the two countries, saying that the mutual ties have upgraded to the level of strategic partnership as a result of willingness of top authorities of both nations.
The two states are expanding cooperation in all political, economic, cultural, security and defense arenas, he said, adding that officials of both nations announced repeatedly that the second fifty years of relationship has kicked off as they see new horizon to bolster collaborations.
Announcing some Chinese and Iranian cities as sister city as well as opening of China’s consulate in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, and increasing cultural coordination between the two countries in recent months are among the most important issues showing the improvement of mutual ties, he argued.
However, the people of the two countries should still get acquainted with each other, because there is not enough familiarity between the two nations, he cautioned.
As to the One Belt One Road Initiative, the envoy noted that the initiative can pave the ground for win-win cooperation and better future for both states.
Iran is ranks one of the most important oi and gas rich countries in the world, which can play a key role in supplying energy to China, he added.
Pointing to China-Iran academic collaborations, he noted that increase of Iranian students at Chinese universities is of great importance, because they can be ambassadors of Iranian society to the Chinese one.
In conclusion he expressed hope that the joint meetings will pave the way for strengthening of ties between the two countries.
The 13th meeting of Iran-China Friendship Association was participated by ambassadors of both countries as well as heads of the associations and some experts virtually.ت
