Senior Iranian lawmaker Abbas Golrou told IRNA on Saturday that the Raisi administration has had a balanced and active foreign policy in the first year of his tenure, which led to the development of interactions with neighboring states as well as improvement of economic condition of the Islamic country.
The existing evaluations of the administration and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicate that they have been successful in pursuing active and balanced diplomacy with other nations, the Iranian MP noted.
The expansion of political relations, the increase of interactions in reciprocal trips at high-ranking levels, as well as the normalization of ties with certain neighboring states in the north and south, and the promotion of de-escalation in the region are among the Islamic Republic’s achievements in the last year, he argued.
The lawmaker, who is representing Semnan in parliament, said that the 13th administration in Tehran has put on the agenda the improvement of ties with countries in East Asia, Africa, Latin America, and certain European states.
A trip by the president of South Africa to Iran shows the seriousness of the Iranian administration to enhance relationships with African nations, Golrou added.
As to President Raisi’s visit to Tajikistan, the MP argued that the chief executive has been successful in resolving transit issues between the two neighboring countries and enhancing cooperation with member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) over the previous year.
He also described Raisi’s trips to Russia, Qatar, and Oman as other important trips by the president in the mentioned period, noting that his visit paved the way for speeding up the usage of 9-billion-dollar credit as well as reaching an agreement for the completion of North-South International Transit Corridor.
The signing of 14 documents between Qatari and Iranian officials on energy, political, transit, diplomatic, trade, economic, scientific, environmental, and sport fields are among the most important achievements of the Raisi administration in their visit to Doha, he added.
According to the lawmaker, the administration has identified and used the opportunity of improving ties with neighboring states very well because de-escalation is of great importance in developing relationships in all aspects.
