Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu discussed issues of mutual interest during a phone conversation on Saturday.

The top diplomats discussed issues related to political ties between the two countries, as well as the upcoming official visit to Tehran by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Iran on Monday.

Erdogan, heading a high-ranking delegation of Turkish political and economic officials, is set to arrive in the Iranian capital on Monday afternoon.

His visit takes place upon an official invitation by President Ebrahim Raisi.

Erdogan will attend a joint meeting with Raisi and their Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday evening, which will take place within the framework of the Astana peace process aimed at resolving the years-long crisis in Syria.
