Tehran, IRNA – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said it is launching a two-way direct flight from Lahore to Iran’s Mashhad city to strengthen religious tourism.

PIA announced on Wednesday that after establishing direct flights to Najaf, Iraq, and Damascus, Syria, a direct Lahore-Mashhad flight will launch soon.

The company first launched Lahore-Mashhad flight for trial early this year, which attracted a lot of interest from Pakistan’s tourism, religious pilgrims, and businesses.

Lahore is an important city in Pakistan which is known as the cultural heart of the country.

Earlier this year, Iran Air – biggest Iranian airline – launched Mashhad-Karachi flight.
