Rasht, IRNA – Finland’s Ambassador to Tehran Kari Kahiluoto said that having advanced, sustainable ties with Iran in the long-term is a goal of foreign policy for his country.

Kahiluoto said on Tuesday during a trip to Rasht city, northern Iran, said that the North-South International Corridor which connects East Europe to the Indian Ocean through Iran will cut the distance between Finland and Iran.

He said that Finland was ready to cooperate with Iran’s Gilan Province on waste sorting and water management, as it is an advanced country in the field with zero waste being disposed of in nature.

Director-General of Gilan Province Environment Administration Reza Zamani welcomed the proposal, praising Finland’s status as an environment-friendly country.

Zamani proposed a sisterhood agreement between Anzali Lagoon in Gilan Province and a wetland in Finland and asked for technological cooperation on forest management to preserve Hyrcanian forests.
