Speaking in his weekly press conference, Khatibzadeh referred to the Zionist regime’s malign role in the talks between Iran and the P4+1 to revive the 2015 nuclear deal by saying that the Middle East is faced with a rogue actor and a rogue regime that has put on display the utmost rogue behavior, terrorism, interventionism, war mongering, and lawlessness in the international system.
The fake Zionist regime has spared no effort to humiliate the international law structures and instrumentalize international organizations, all with the support and blank check from certain countries, the spokesman added.
He expressed regret that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi has undermined the structure by putting it in the palm of such a lawless regime’s hand.
Such measures have discredited international organizations’ achievements, Khatibzadeh noted, adding that the message of Grossi’s trip to Israel is as clear as that of any other diplomatic measure.
The Iranian diplomat said that the director-general has the duty to keep the organization under his leadership "independent and impartial", but he has traveled to the Zionist regime, while this regime has not even signed the NPT.
Khatibzadeh said that the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors against Iran was previously agreed on by Tehran and the nuclear watchdog, but the director-general changed its tone and wording during his speech in the European Parliament.
We couldn’t leave the IAEA’s political and non-technical measure unanswered, he said, noting that Iran gave a decisive and appropriate response to the resolution.
On Iran’s measures to reduce compliance with the JCPOA, the spokesman noted that the measure was taken in response to the other side’s move, but they are totally reversible, but the impacts of sanctions are irreversible.
A deal is within reach if the US passes the illusion of making leverage, the spokesman continued.
Asked about an Iranian official’s proposal on a new currency to replace the dollar, he said that Iran has always had on the agenda the use of currencies other than the dollar and the proposal has also been offered by China and Russia.
On the diplomatic traffic into and out of Iran, the spokesman said that the foreign minister of Pakistan, the president of Turkmenistan, and Armenia’s speaker are going to visit Iran this week and Iran’s foreign minister will travel to Africa.
Asked about the 15-million-dollar bounty offered by the US for information on Iran’s IRGC, Khatibzadeh said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is proud that the IRGC is the nightmare of the rogue in the region and the military body is obviously hated for its role in establishing security in the region.
On the reports last week claiming that two Mossad agents were killed in Erbil, Khatibzadeh refused to answer but said that Iran will respond to Israel in a proper place, not in a third country.
He also said that the missile strike on a location a few months ago in Erbil which was carried out by the IRGC was small surgery that hit the target precisely.
Khatibzadeh rejected reports claiming that an Iranian airplane was detained abroad and also reports about a possible joint military drill between Israel and Cyprus, as Cyprus's ambassador has denied such a drill.
He described the detainment of Iranian citizen Mr. Assadi in Belgium as a gross violation of the 1961 Vienna agreement, adding that Iran has filed a lawsuit on the issue and Belgium should immediately and unconditionally release the Iranian national.
