Amirabdollahian met and held talks with India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Amirabdollahian called for boosting relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and India.
Pointing to the broad areas available for the development of cooperation between Iran and India, he emphasized strengthening bilateral ties in various fields, regardless of third and opposing parties.
Welcoming the Indian authority's proposals to further expand relations, especially in the areas of transportation through the south and north corridors, particularly the use of Chabahar port, investment, trade, education, research, and development, Amirabdollahian stated that there are no restrictions for the Islamic Republic of Iran on boosting ties with India.
While describing the security and military ties between the two states as good, he called for strengthening cooperation and using the capacities against terrorism at the mutual and regional levels plus helping the Afghan people.
As to the recent sacrilege of the Holy Prophet of Islam by one of the Indian politicians, Amirabdollahian stated that his trip to India is made in a situation in which a member of a party insulted Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in an arbitrary act, while the government of India categorically rules out the disrespect.
India has constantly followed up peaceful coexistence and tried to live in peace and tranquility, the Iranian FM said, noting that Muslims cannot tolerate the sacrilege of the Prophet of Islam at all.
Muslims expect Indian officials to continue resorting to peaceful coexistence among all religions and sects, as it was experienced throughout the history of the country, he stipulated, adding that he expects Indian authorities to repeat such a stance in upcoming talks.
Ajit Doval, for his part, welcomed the progress made in relations between the two countries and stressed the proposal to form a strategic committee to expand relations in all areas.
He expressed the Indian government's readiness to develop relations at all levels in bilateral, multilateral, regional, and international fields.
Referring to the recent sacrilege of the Holy Prophet of Islam by one of the Indian politicians, he expressed regret, saying that any sacrilege against the Prophet of Islam is not acceptable at all.
