Tehran, IRNA – Russian Ambassador in Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan has said that his country supports the Islamic Republic of Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.

Dzhagaryan made the remarks while speaking with IRNA about Western countries’ draft resolution against Iran at the IAEA Board.

He went on to say that Russia has always stood by Iran and is after seeing Iran reach an agreement.

Referring to a telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries, the ambassador said that Russia has declared that it would support Iran in the nuclear issue.

Unfortunately, some claim that Russia is after creating problems for the talks; while Moscow even supports Tehran’s agreement with Washington, Dzhagaryan noted.

Russia is never against Iran reaching agreements with other countries, he underlined.

The question of preparing a draft resolution against Iran was raised after the IAEA announced its new report on Iran; then it was claimed that Tehran has not been faithful to its commitments to the July 2015 nuclear deal, aka, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

After the IAEA report, the United States, France, Britain, and Germany prepared a draft resolution to present to the IAEA Board of Governors, the draft which asks Iran to answer the remaining questions about the uranium found in three places.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has described such a draft resolution as hasty, destructive, and contrary to diplomatic procedures, which makes the process of talks more difficult and complicated.
