-- Iran, other Muslim nations condemn India over anti-Islam remarks

International backlash is growing against India after a ruling party official made Islamophobic comments during a televised debate, with Iran and several other Muslim nations lodging official protests against New Delhi and demanding a “public apology”.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Indian Ambassador to Tehran Dhamu Gaddam to protest the TV debate, during which the sacrilegious remarks were made against Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

-- Death toll in SW Iran building collapse rises to 41‎

The death toll from a building collapse in the southwestern Iranian city of Abadan ‎has risen to 41 after pulling out three new bodies from the rubble, said a local official. ‎
In an address to reporters on Monday, Abadan Governor Ehsan Abbaspour said the evacuated bodies have been ‎identified.

-- US may need to allow more Iran oil to flow even without deal: Vitol

Global crude trader Vitol Group says the United States may allow more sanctioned oil from Iran onto global markets even without reaching an agreement on the revival of the 2015 deal, amid growing pressure to reduce gas prices in America.
The latest round of talks between Iran and the remaining signatories to the 2015 Iran deal has been stalled over Washington’s refusal to rejoin the accord, with oil traders being increasingly pessimistic about the prospects of a deal.

-- Tasnim: Iran FM’s Visit to Turkey Postponed 

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian’s trip to Turkey, planned for Monday, has been postponed for “a couple of days”, Tansim news agency said citing diplomatic sources.

No new date has been set yet for the visit, it added. In a meeting in Tehran in November 2021, Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu agreed on the launch of negotiations on a roadmap to cooperation between the two neighbors.

-- Iran Freestyle Wrestlers Win 4 Medals at Turlykhanov Cup

Iranian four-member freestyle wrestling team won three gold and one silver medals at the International Wrestling Championships of the Turlykhanov Cup in Kazakhstan.
During 2022 Bolat Turlykhanov Cup wrestling event in Almaty, Kazakhstan that began on June 2, Hassan Yazdani, Kamran Ghasempour and Amir Hussein Zare won the gold medals in the 86, 92 and 125 kg weights, and Amir Hussein Firoozpour won the silver medal in the weight of 97 kg.

-- Iraq, Iran Officials Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in Banking Field

Governor of Iraq’s Central Bank Ghaleb Makhif held talks with Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad on Monday to discuss various issues including banking cooperation and also paying back Iraq’s debt for gas imports.
The two officials held talks in Iraqi capital of Baghdad to discuss the payment of Iraq’s debts to Iran.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged their views regarding the dimensions of banking and economic cooperation between the two countries, payment of Iraqi debts to Iran for imports of energy and removal of barriers facing Iranian companies in Iraq.

-- Children’s Book Council of Iran unveils nominees for 2023 ALMA

The Children’s Book Council of Iran has announced its nominees for the 2023 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA), a prestigious Swedish prize for children’s literature in the world.

The nominees are Iranian writers Ahmad Akbarpur and Ali-Asghar Seyyedabadi and Afghan book reading promoter Nader Musavi, the council announced in a press release published on Thursday.

-- Iranians waste the least food in West Asia

The Food Waste Index Report 2021 from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) states that Iranians have the lowest food waste per capita in West Asia (the Middle East).

This report sheds new light on the magnitude of food waste, and on the prevalence of household food waste on all continents, irrespective of country income levels.

By throwing away 17 percent of the food available at retail, food service, and consumer level, the impacts of food systems on climate, nature, and pollution are generated needlessly. An estimated 8-10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions are associated with food that is not consumed and yet none of the Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement mention food waste.

-- Travel guide to Iran appears in Romanian

A travel guide titled “10 Reasons Why You Should Visit Iran” has recently been published in Romanian, ISNA reported on Monday. 

The book has previously appeared in 11 languages including English, Turkish, Chinese, and Arabic by the foreign tourism marketing office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry, the report added.

Introducing some of the historical, cultural, and tourist attractions of Iran to the tourist markets is the goal of publishing such travel guides.
