Addressing the heads of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in separate messages delivered on Thursday, Qalibaf strongly condemned the assassination Sunday of Iran’s IRGC member Martyr Hassan Sayyad Khodaei.
The speaker said the terrorist act was in continuation of systematic, targeting assassinations of Iran’s citizens, scientists and Armed Forces members, noting that such acts constitute a violation of the UN Charter, international law principles, and fundamental human rights.
The continuation of such acts of state terrorism has vividly challenged the rule of law, creating increasing concerns for the international community, he added.
Qalibaf warned that silence in the face of such act will only encourage and embolden the perpetrators of the provocative and norm-breaking act.
The international community should consider the dangerous consequences of such terrorist acts on international peace and security and strongly condemn such brutal assassinations by well-known state terrorism of certain regimes, he emphasized.
As a victim of terrorism and a regional leader in the genuine and serious fight against it, Qalibaf said, such a heinous crime will not undermine Iran's policy and determination against terrorism, and rather, it will strengthen Iran’s resolve to continue fighting terrorism.
