In his talks with the head of International Red Cross Society Committee Peter Maurer, Amirabdollahian focused on the latest situation in Ukraine’s border regions, Yemen, and Afghanistan, and sought ways for the Iran-IRCS cooperation.
Amirabdollahian appreciated Maurer for his efforts aimed at assisting the regional nations in need, and stressed the need for seeking a political and diplomatic solution to end the Ukraine war.
He also announced the Iranian Red Crescent Society's readiness to help the victims of Ukraine crisis and asked the International Red Cross society for cooperation in that respect.
The Iranian foreign minister, meanwhile, referred to the human catastrophes in Yemen and Afghanistan, stressing the need to hand over the humanitarian aids to those countries to ease the people’s hardships.
Maurer, for his part, said that he was glad to talk to the Iranian foreign minister, as well as the Russian and Ukrainian officials for forwarding humanitarian aids, exchange of the dead soldiers, and having access to the prisoners of war, emphasizing that the situation in Ukraine is highly critical.
