Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said the 13th government will follow up developing relations with the Latin American countries more than ever aiming to open new cooperation horizons.

Addressing a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia which was held on the sidelines of the 6th GECF Summit of Heads of State and Government, Raisi said that resistance and adopting firm stance against imperialism and arrogant powers will certainly lead to victory.

He hailed Venezuela's resistance against pressures and sanctions, saying that Iran has plans for developing interactions with Venezuela.

He described the Latin American countries as good examples of victory of nations’ resistance against arrogant powers.

In addition to oil and gas reservoirs, countries like and Venezuela enjoy people who have decided to stand against excessive demands.

He termed relations between Iran and Venezuela as strategic and called for implementing bilateral agreements.

The United States assumed that Latin America will be the backyard of its excessive demands, but these countries have become one of the biggest obstacles to US hegemony, Raisi said.

Meanwhile, Plasencia said that the US wants all nations to abide by its ambitions, but the Venezuelan people have stood firmly against its demand and will not allow the US to obstruct Venezuela's leading role in the Latin American nations’ freedom-seeking.

He stressed Venezuela's interest in reinforcing relations with Iran.

During the meeting, Iran and Venezuela also signed MoU on transferring technology and establishing joint cooperation in oil and gas fields.
