--- Raeisi trip to lend new impetus to Tehran-Moscow ties: Academic
Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi’s upcoming visit to Russia will give fresh momentum to Moscow-Tehran ties.
The remark was made by the acting dean of the Faculty of World Politics of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU), Andrei A. Sidorov, in an exclusive interview with IRNA.
Documents and memorandums of understanding on expanding bilateral cooperation in different sectors are expected to be signed during the visit, he added, saying since visits by heads of state normally come under the spotlight and the Iranian president’s Moscow trip is no exception, precise planning has been done to prepare the ground for it.
The visit comes as relations between Iran and Russia are at their zenith, the faculty dean noted, adding the two countries’ leaders are hopeful to further improve the level of bilateral ties and cooperation in different sectors.

Iran’s point-to-point inflation decreased by 17.5 percent during the month to December 21, 2021, compared to the figure for the month to August 22, 2021, announced Ali Salehabadi, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).
The official added that the economic growth rate in the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 21, 2021) was 3.3 percent

The architecture of old Iranian houses has always inspired the new generation of the country’s engineers. The houses that had an andaruni (inner quarter), a biruni (outer quarter), an entrance and several corridors. Ivans (rectangular halls or spaces, usually vaulted and walled on three sides, with one end entirely open) and the large courtyards were also their inseparable parts.
The central part of Iran has a hot desert climate, thus houses should be built in a way to help residents escape the heat. There have long been various methods to cool the environment. In the city of Yazd, a traditional structure called badgir (wind-catcher) has been used for passive air-conditioning of buildings.

-- Iran Women’s Football Team to Compete at AFC Asian Cup
Iran’s women’s national football team arrived in Mumbai, India Sunday morning to compete at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Team Melli has been drawn in Group A along with India, China and Chinese Taipei.
The competition will be held in India from January 20 to February 6.
-- Bandar Lengeh’s Exports to Persian Gulf States Top $2.755bn
The Director-General of West Hormozgan Customs Nasser Norouzi said on Sunday that $2.755 billion worth of products have been exported from Bandar Lengeh to the Persian Gulf littoral states since the beginning of current year in 1400 (started Mar. 21).
Norouzi added that more than 2,049,000 tons of products, valued at $2.755 billion, have been exported from Bandar Lengeh to the Persian Gulf littoral states from March 21, 2021 to Jan. 14, 2022.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, dried nuts, plastic and metal products, construction materials, bitumen, oil and petrochemical products were of the main products exported to the Persian Gulf littoral states from Bandar Lengeh, Hormozgan province, he added.

An Iranian economic delegation will leave for Iraq on Monday to discuss the expansion of cooperation in various fields.
Heading an economic delegation, Chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce Gholam-Hussein Shafei is scheduled to pay a three-day visit to Iraq to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, industry, mining, and agriculture at the invitation of the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Abdul Razzaq al- Zuhairi.

-- Rail transit through Iran hits new record high
Transit of goods through Iran’s railway network rose over 200 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2021) to register the highest year-on-year increase over the past 10 years, IRIB reported.
Based on the data released by the Iranian Transport and Urban Development Ministry, over 1.39 million tons of commodities were transited via the Iranian rail network in the mentioned nine months, 202 percent more than the previous year’s same period in which the figure stood at 460,000 tons.
--59 Iranian universities among world’s top for academic quality
A total of 59 Iranian universities are listed among the top 3,000 institutions in the world in terms of academic quality, according to the 2021-2022 report released by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP).
The URAP ranking system's focus is on academic quality. URAP has gathered data about 3,000 Higher Education Institutes (HEI) in an effort to rank these organizations by their academic performance based on several indicators, including article, citation, total document, article impact total, citation impact total, and international collaboration.
-- Tehran smooths Iraqi travel flow, deputy tourism minister says
Iran has renewed arrangements to facilitate travels for Iraqi nationals, the deputy tourism chief said on Saturday. “For Iraqi tourists visiting Iran, a new system has been implemented to ensure their safety and comfort,” IRNA quoted Ali-Asghar Shalbafian as saying on Saturday.
Under this new system, named "Border to Border", Iraqi tourists are provided with decent and standard tourism services from the moment they cross the land border or fly into the Iranian airport until the end of their journey.
