Tehran, IRNA – The Golden Globes award winners were announced on Sunday night, but Iran's representative film "A Hero" failed to win foreign language Best Motion Picture award.

Directed by the Oscar-winning Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, the film was selected to represent Iran in the Hollywood's quirkiest award show - the Golden Globes - in the 79th edition of the event.

"A Hero" was nominated for the Best Motion Picture award in the Foreign Language category, as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) revealed nominations last month.

The film was competing with "Compartment No. 6", "The Hand of God", "Parallel Mother", and "Drive My Car" which won the golden globe.

"A Hero" made its debut in the 74th Cannes Film Festival, winning the Grand Prix of the jury.
