In an interview with IRNA on Monday Dr. Syed Qandil Abbas, Professor of Politics and International Relations at Quaid-e-Azam University said martyr Qasem Soleimani was not only a military leader but a regional strategist.
“Martyr Qasem Soleimani had protected the rights of the oppressed nations and despite his assassination by the US, the policy of resistance by the Islamic Republic is still continuing,” viewed the analyst.
He said that the international community must take notice and hold a thorough investigation of the confession of Zionist intelligence officials regarding the attack and assassination of the Iranian military commander.
Dr. Abbas added this attack on the land of Iraq was a clear violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and a violation of all international laws. “Unfortunately the international community, United Nations, International Court of Justice, and other Human Rights organizations did not take notice of the cowardly attack by the US,” he said.
“Zionists regime has been conducting attacks on Iranian officials and should be held accountable for such crimes,” said the analyst.
He went on to say that Iran had every right to retaliate against the attack and that is why we saw a strong reaction by the Islamic Republic on US bases in Iraq with the consent of the Iraqi government.
“In the modern political history especially after the Second World War this was the first time the US interests were directly targeted by any country,” noted Dr. Syed Qandil Abbas.
He said that Americans did a grave mistake by attacking the Iranian military commander. “It was a clear miscalculated attack without analyzing the consequences of such strike,” said the expert.
The professor said that the US attempts to isolate Iran have been miserable as the country, on one hand, is indigenously developing its defense technology and on the other, they have signed a long-term strategic deal with China.
He said that unilateral sanctions imposed by the US on Iran are affecting the lives of the people of Iran.
The analyst said the US and Zionist Regime have failed to stop the influence of Iran in Iraq, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, and Lebanon.
IRGC Quds force commander Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and the Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), known as Hash al-Shaabi, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes were martyred by the US in a targeted airstrike against their motorcade in Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.
As a result of this White House terrorist act, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired several ballistic missiles at the US base of Ain al-Assad in Iraq's Al-Anbar province which caused huge losses to the American forces.
