Tehran, IRNA – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 jolted the Qal'eh Qazi in Hormozgan Province, southern Iran on Monday.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred at 11:01:56 at a depth of 15 km.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 27.61 degrees latitude and 56.17 degrees longitude.

A local senior official said that the teams in the Qal'eh Qazi town were investigating potential damages.

Hormozgan Province has seen several earthquakes during the last two month. The region was hit by a 6 magnitude quake on November 14 followed by tens of aftershocks.
