Tehran, IRNA – Syrian Minister of Higher Education Bassam Bashir Ibrahim has said that his country is willing to enhance educational and scientific cooperation with Iranian universities.

Ibrahim made the remarks during his visit to Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran.

The Syrian minister expressed his willingness to widen scientific relations with Amirkabir University.

Then, he pointed to his meeting held on Monday with Iran's deputy minister of science, and said the two stressed the importance of strengthening research and scientific cooperation.

In a related development, Syria's Ambassador to Tehran Shafiq Dayoub, during his visit, said that Damascus-Tehran ties are historical and strategic.

He hoped that the two would witness growing relations.

Cooperation with Amirkabir University is important for Syria, said the ambassador, describing the Iranian university as one of the technical ones in the world.

Elsewhere, the caretaker of Amirkabir University said that Iran and Syria need to further scientific cooperation through focusing on commonalities.

Hassan Qodsipour said that the two should cooperate in the areas of science and technology as they have already got united to expel the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel from the Islamic lands. 

According to aut.ir, Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) is among the oldest and the most prestigious of higher education, technical and engineering institutes in Iran. AUT’s long history of success has flourished even more significantly, after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.
