Boroujerd, IRNA – Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iran Claudio Providas described the economy of resistance as a good solution for lifting sanctions against Iran and preventing COVID-19 from damaging rural jobs.

Speaking in a meeting on women empowerment in the city of Boroujerd, Lorestan Province, western Iran, Providas said that the effects of coronavirus epidemic on Iran's economy have been reviewed and the European Union has been keen on providing assistance in this regard.

He hailed bilateral cooperation for supporting jobs negatively affected by the pandemic.

He noted that the United Nations has spent $10 million to support 10,000 occupations affected by COVID-19.

He referred to reinforcing home-based businesses for female breadwinners as a basic aim which has so far been pursued in Lorestan, Tehran, and Hormuzgan provinces.
