Abbaszadeh Meshkini told reporters on Monday that it is Westerners who should be blamed for the failure of the nuclear talks.
He said the stalemate in nuclear talks is the fault of the Westerners, because Iran negotiated with them and signed the JCPOA agreement, but they did not fulfill the obligations they had signed.
He added that the Western member countries of the JCPOA acted contrary to the provisions of this agreement and not only refused to lift the sanctions but also tightened them.
This senior Iranian lawmaker noted that if the European Union intends to mediate between 4+1 and Iran, it should blame the US and the E3 troika who did not comply with their JCPOA commitments.
Abbaszadeh Meshkini further underlined that lifting Iran's sanctions and the fulfillment of nuclear commitments by the US and Europe is the first step to start nuclear talks.
Days before, Abbaszadeh Meshkini had said that negotioations between Iran and the parties to the 2015 nuclear deal will resume in the coming days.
The US withdrew unilaterally from the July 2015 nuclear deal in May 2018 and imposed the highest level of sanctions on Iran in November same year.
Iranian officials insist that as long as the US has not lifted the sanctions, Iran will not agree to let it rejoin the deal.
