London, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran envoy in Vienna said that the International Atomic Energy Agency’s silence about the Israeli regime’s nuclear program would send a negative message.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi made the remarks in a Twitter message on Friday.

"What is the advantage of being both a NPT member and fully implementing the Agency's safeguards?" he asked in the tweet.

“How could one see the IAEA as a serious, professional and impartial partner when it does not pursue evenly and justly the implementation of its safeguards regime for all its members?” Gharibabadi continued asking.

He then warned: “Silence and negligence about Israel’s nuclear program sends a negative message to the NPT members that “being a member equals accepting the robust verifications, while being outside the Treaty means to be free from any obligation and criticism, and even be rewarded”?!”

Gharibabadi was reacting to an interview of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi where he had said that the reason why the UN nuclear watchdog talks a lot about Iran but never speaks about Israel was that the Israeli regime wasn’t a member of the NPT.
