Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi visited Persepolis (Takht-e Jamshid) in this southern province on Thursday morning.
According to the official website of Iranian President, Raisi during his trip to Fars province and the visit of Persepolis, said in a short speech, "Historical buildings and heritage such as Persepolis show the great art of Iranians from past centuries, which are still a source of astonishment and admiration after the passing of centuries".
He added: "Another message of the Persepolis building is addressed to the oppressors to show them what the fate of those who oppress the people are".
President Raisi also had a cordial conversation with a group of people and visitors during his visit to the Persepolis Historical Complex.
Iranian President also talked to the experts on the restoration of antiquities in the historical site of Persepolis and was informed about the details of the restoration of different parts of this valuable ancient monument.
The history of Persepolis, literally meaning ‘city of Persians’ goes back to 515 BCE. Now situated 60 kms north of the provinical capital of Shiraz, it served as the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire.
