Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Saturday that Syria lies enroute of development and progress, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, like the terrorist wartime against Damascus, will stand by Syria.

Upon arrival in the Syrian capital, Amirabdollahian said to reporters on Saturday that it has always been our serious concern with regard to regional developments and bilateral relations, dialogue and consultation with friends and with the strategic partner of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syria, and Syrian officials.
"In recent weeks, there has been an important agreement on the development of the relationship between the two countries and intensive and scheduled activities for the development of economic, trade and tourism cooperation" the Iranian Foreign Minister added.
Pointing out that our bilateral agreements will be implemented quickly and the two nations will benefit from it, Amirabdollahian said: "Syria lies on the path of development and progress, and in this way, the Islamic Republic of Iran will stand by Syria, as it did during the war against Syria.

Upon arrival, the foreign minister was welcomed by his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad.
Before Damascus, Amirabdollahian visited Moscow and Beirut and held talks with Russian and Lebanese officials on various international and bilateral issues.
On a Twitter post on Thursday, Amirabdollahian said he has had "excellent talks" in Moscow.
Also in Beirut, Amirabdollahian expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran's strong support for Lebanon.
